Bloody Beetroots è lo pseudonimo dietro il quale si nasconde il produttore e dj Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, che nelle esibizioni live (The Bloody Beetroots Dj Set/Live) si fa accompagnare da Tommy Tea. Bloody Beetroots arriva da Bassano del Grappa, ed è un fenomeno di livello mondiale.
Sono un bambino cresciuto che adora leggere i fumetti degli anni 70, che non ha smesso di sognare, di ascoltare il punk e la musica classica commenta Sir Bob. Cosi come la sua indole adora i fumetti, la storia di Bloody Beetroots abbonda di alleanze diaboliche, di alter-ego e di universi paralleli.
Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, nato nel 1977 inizia da giovane a studiare musica classica, ma presto viene influenzato da altro: dallenergia grezza del punk e del rockabilly, dalle immagini intense ed oltraggiose del fumettista Magnus, Benito Jacovitti, e soprattutto Tanino Liberatore, creatore di RanXerox. Dopo aver studiato Chopin, Beethoven e Debussy, Bob sposta la sua attenzione nel produrre suoni che concilino i campionamenti e lelettronica con la musica punk e new wave degli anni 80, lanciandosi per un decennio in una serie di progetti diversi.
E cosi che Rifo crea Bloody Beetroots, alter ego elettronico che nel giro di due anni sforna 45 Bloody Beetroots remixes e si esibisce in numerosi tour mondiali.
Il progetto nasce ufficialmente nel gennaio 2007 e diventa in poche settimane uno dei progetti più chiacchierati e scaricati nei blogs di tutto il mondo dove viene considerato come una rivelazione in continua ascesa, e i primi riconoscimenti arrivano prima dall'estero che dall'Italia. Destano subito lattenzione di Etienne De Crecy e di Alex Gopher che arruolano Bob come remixer ufficiale.
Bloody Beetroots, ovvero Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, in neanche due anni ha fatto una vera strage di produzioni, la quantità di remix usciti dalla mente di questo producer è esorbitante; la sua musica comincia a fare breccia nella cultura popolare; le sue produzioni originali vengono scelte dalla CBS per 3 episodi di C.S.I. Miami e recentemente Sir Bob ha conquistato anche le colonne sonore per i video-giochi più venduti al mondo: Fifa '09, Nba 2009, Need For Speed Pro Street e Need For Speed NITRO un vero e proprio successo.
Nel 2007, Bob firma per letichetta statunitense Dim Mak Records, casa produttrice con sede ad Hollywood, sotto legida di Steve Aoki, pubblicando gli EP Rombo (2008), Cornelius (2008) e Warp Feat. Steve Aoki (2009). Sia Warp che Cornelius sono entrate nella Top ten dei 10 album più venduti al mondo su iTunes. Rifo ed Aoki hanno collaborato anche al progetto hardcore punk Rifoki (Prodotto da Giulio Favero del Teatro Degli Orrori,in uscita a Gennaio 2010). Con Cornelius, un album non ordinario, Sir Bob mostra ancora una volta il suo potere: Cornelius integra moda, cinema, letteratura e cinema. Un omaggio alla fantascienza inglese dello scrittore Michael Moorcock e al suo anti-eroe Jerry Cornelius. Anche il video, concettualizzato da Rifo e diretto da Mathieu Danet è stato visualizzato in rete più di 500 mila volte.
Lavventura Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo a.k.a. The Bloody Beetroots continua per tutto il 2009, con luscita dellalbum Romborama (il prossimo 25 settembre) che vede la partecipazione di The Cool Kids, Vicarious Bliss, Justin Pearson dei Locust, Marracash e molti altri. Un progetto che incorpora tutti generi musicali: pop, punk, electro, acid, hip hop,classica,house, techno. La copertina è stata realizzata dal già citato fumettista Tanino Liberatore, che Sir Bob già conosceva alletà di 8 anni. Tanino ha cambiato la mia percezione quando ero bambino. Alletà di 8 anni, ha distrutto la mia ingenuità, commenta lo stesso Rifo.
La storia ci ha mostrato come i momenti più esasperanti nellarte, il 1913 con la prima di Stravinsky con Le sacre du Primtemps, o il famoso spettacolo del 1981 di Public Image Ltd al Ritz di New York, possono provocare irrequietezza e malcontento. Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo ispira lo stesso genere di zelo rivoluzionario, tuttavia con esuberanza e senza oltraggio.

Major Lazer
Le nouveau projet de Diplo et Switch se nomme Major Lazer, pour l'instant peu d'infos ont leakées, on sait qu'ils enregistrent en Jamaïque avec des artistes locaux, connus ou plus underground, on sait que l'album est en préparation que Santigold, les Nina Sky, Vybz Kartel, Ms Thing, Elephant Man, Turbulen etc devraient être de la partie, on sait que ça sera dancehall, et un premier titre à fait son apparition, alors en attendant aller faire un tour sur le podcast..

Digikid84 & Bestrack
Aujourd’hui, je tiens juste à relayer l’info de ce qui sera LA grosse sortie funky du moment avec ce remix qui n’est ni plus ni moins qu’une tuerie, sublimée par une vidéo d’un film-de-danse-sur-rollers-dont-on-ne-connait-pas-le-nom. C’est un remix de Bestrack (qui a fait aussi un superbe tribute to Danger et un autre remix/vidéo sulime) pour la sortie de la version collector de l’EP B.Boy Underground (avec mention Vinyl Collector en plus) de Digikid84 (les amis de mes amis sont mes amis), qui sortira bientôt-mais-on-sait-pas-quand, et ce en uniquement 350 exemplaires, et sans sortie digitale du remix prévue (à ma connaissance). Il conviendra donc de se ruer sur cette perle rare qu’est cet EP, pour qu’ils se sentent forcés de le rééditer de façon normale par la suite, tellement le label Folistar croûlera sous la demande!
Et je n’oublie pas votre angoisse de ne pouvoir mettre la main sur cette édition collector de l’EP en vous offrant, pour patienter, deux remixes de l’auteur de l’EP, qui m’a fois bouncent pas mal!so fresh!!

Un an et demi après la sortie du premier, le voici de retour avec un nouvel EP. Fidèle à son concept de départ, (chacun de ses tracks est défini par des heures, aussi évocatrices selon lui que des sentiments) déclinant une palette d'émotions variées, Danger a su garder le meilleur de ses productions dynamisme, structures étonnantes, textures recherchées- en élargissant sa palette sonore. Ses morceaux continuent de s'enchaîner comme des histoires, véritables fragments de vie de son monde imaginaire. Quant aux artworks, réalisés par ses soins, ils tiennent toujours une place omniprésente dans l'ensemble de son travail, tout comme ses clips, intimement liés à ses productions. Plus que de la musique au sens strict du terme, Danger, fortement influencé par les jeux vidéos en bon ado des 90's, crée un univers à part entière où tous ces éléments interagissent et se complètent. De son propre aveu, le « son Danger » a évolué, plus calme et mélodique, moins saturé et compressé. Alors que l'EP s'ouvre sur « 88:88 », une valse atmosphérique et épique d'un nouveau genre, « 07:46 » lorgne vers la B.O. de film à suspense couplée à des breaks et des bleeps dignes d'un descendant d'Aphex Twin époque « Window Licker ». Il convie également le rappeur américain Vyle le temps d'un featuring explosif, revenant ainsi à ses premiers amours, la production de tracks hip hop. Côté remixes, les hostilités démarrent avec un auto remix de Danger, à destination des dancefloors et de la blogosphère, le second est signé EAT, duo Berlinois proche de Luciano et Villalobos, hébergé par le label Diamonds and Pearls, le dernier nous provient directement du Japon, concocté par 80kidz, le trio Japonais qui ne cesse de buzzer en ce moment. Peaches "I Feel Cream"
Trois ans après la sortie de Impeach My Bush qui contenait notamment le tube Boys Wanna Be Her, Peaches revient en force dans les bacs avec son cinquième album studio intitulé I Feel Cream. Pour ce nouveau disque, la chanteuse canadienne s’est entourée des groupes électro Soulwax, Simian Mobile Disco, Gonzales, Drums of Death et Digitalism. Avant sa sortie le 4 mai sur le continent européen, l’opus est introduit en radio par les morceaux Talk To Me et Lose You qui seront disponibles sur les plateformes de téléchargement dès le 27 avril. En attendant, découvrez la liste des chansons de ce nouvel opus très attendu ci-dessous. Connue notamment pour ses tenues de scène provocantes, Peaches est une chanteuse canadienne dont la musique mélange avec brio le rock et l’électro. Après avoir été professeur de musique et de théâtre dans une école primaire, Merrill prend le nom de scène de Peaches en 1995 et sort un premier album baptisé Fancypants Hoodlum. Cinq ans plus tard, elle revient dans les bacs avec The Teaches of Peaches qui confirme l’originalité de son style musical et vestimentaire. L’opus Fatherfucker paru en 2003 va encore plus loin dans le mélange des genres et lui permet de conquérir le marché hexagonal, notamment grâce à une collaboration surprenante avec Iggy Pop. They were the ultimate guinea pigs, cruelly separated and secretly studied as part of a research project into whether human behaviour is the result of nature or nurture.
For years, identical twins Da Flava and Suck16 didn't know the other existed.Their remarkable reunion 6 months ago and their experiences of trying to make up for lost time are emotionally laid bare in their jointly written music...SymbolOne was born.
They are currently working on their first EP which will contain 2 symbol tracks + 2 remixes done by the chosen ones. They have decided that EP will be limited edition of 535 copies as a symbol of the distance that separated them for years.
La Roux - Quicksand
La Roux quickly became one of the most blogged about bands on both mainstream & indie blogs but in almost all the cases the band is referred to as She where many think that La Roux is a solo artist when in fact it's an equal duo effort "singer and synth player Elly Jackson and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid".. but then you can't blame anyone because the way La Roux been promoting itself through imagery & press does convince one into thinking La Roux is a singer.
Anyhow, when Quicksand was released last November(?) through Kitsune I thought it was the most horrible 80s influenced pop song ever & I probably thought that way because of the distinctive vocals & singing style of Elly.. with further thoughts into it, I realized it was again facing the Muscles Syndrome situation where lots of people thought his messy vocals were a joke but then everyone found themselves drawn into it & appreciating it for the same reason that repulsed them in the first place.
La Roux will release their debut this year through Polydor along with their second single In For The Kill on March 2nd with remixes from Skream & The Twelves.
